Affiliate Disclosure

The short version: we earn commission on some links, it costs you nothing extra, and it does not decide the order of our picks.

The required statement

As an Amazon Associate, MadGrey LLC earns from qualifying purchases. Sprue & Brush is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

How it works, in plain terms

Most product links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer pays us a small percentage of the sale. You pay exactly the same price you would have paid going direct — the commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not out of your pocket, and there is no code to enter or account to create.

Affiliate links on this site are routed through our own /go/ resolver before reaching the retailer. That exists so a link can be repointed in one place if a product is discontinued, and so we can see which recommendations people actually find useful. It does not collect anything about you personally — see the privacy policy.

Every outbound commercial link is marked with rel="sponsored nofollow", which is how search engines are told the link is a paid relationship rather than an editorial citation. Links to manufacturer specification pages, standards bodies and other reference sources are not affiliate links and earn us nothing.

What commission does not change

  • It does not set the ranking. Where a cheaper product is the better buy, that is the pick — including when the cheaper product pays us less. There are several pages on this site whose top recommendation is the least profitable option on it.
  • It does not buy coverage. No manufacturer has paid to appear here. Nothing on this site is sponsored, and we do not publish paid posts, paid links or guest articles.
  • No free products. We have not been sent products in exchange for coverage. If that ever changes, it will be stated on the page in question, prominently, before the recommendation.
  • It does not change the drawbacks. Every pick on this site lists what is wrong with it. That is a deliberate rule, not an occasional habit.

Prices

We never type a price into a page. Prices render only from a live data layer with a 48-hour freshness gate: if the data is not current, the number disappears by itself and the button falls back to “Check price on Amazon”. The failure mode is deliberately silence rather than a stale figure.

That means the price you see on the retailer’s page is the price that counts. Prices, availability and specifications change, and retailers sometimes change a listing under the same product name — always check the page you land on before buying.

Other affiliate programs

Amazon is currently the only retailer we earn from. If we add a brand-direct or network program later, it will be because it is better for the buyer — a better price, better stock, or a better warranty — and it will be subject to the same rules on this page.

Questions

If anything here is unclear, or you think a specific recommendation looks commercially motivated, say so: contact@sprueandbrush.com. The reasoning behind our picks is published on every page precisely so it can be argued with — see the review policy and editorial policy.
